Warp 9 Adds to Patent Portfolio
February 4, 2009 - Santa Barbara, CA - Warp 9, Inc. (OTCBB: WNYN), the premier provider of robust e-commerce platforms and services, today announces that it recently received a Notice of Allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its patent application titled "Method of and Instruction Set for Executing Operations on a Device".
This patent approval is the second the Company has received as a result of the mobile technology development efforts of the Company's former Roaming Messenger operation. It is the Company's hope that it will be able to license or otherwise leverage its mobile technology. The Company will explore potential applications and/or violations of its granted patents.
The patent describes the method by which intelligent instructions, including bytecode, state of a virtual machine, and message information can be transmitted between mobile devices. It may act both upon the predetermined intent of the sender, as well as information that impacted its state along its path, including any new information it may receive -- for example by users, GPS information, action, or inaction. This creates a means by which to transmit much more intelligent, actionable messages than those constructed by e-mail and other mediums today. Emergency notifications, purchasing approval, dynamic team building, information collection, coupon/marketing applications, and mobile commerce are just a few areas in which these smarter messages show an advantage over traditional means of communication.
Warp 9's CEO, Harinder Dhillon commented, "This Notice of Allowance from the US PTO validates the belief we had in the potential for our mobile technology development. While mobile technology is no longer a current focus of the company, we plan to explore the best ways to monetize our intellectual property portfolio. As mobile commerce continues to grow and become more prevalent, we may find additional interest and/or licensing opportunities for our mobile technology."
Warp 9 powers some of the most successful e-commerce websites for retailers such as www.magellans.com, and Spiegel Brands' www.carabella.com, www.ablambdin.com, and www.shapefx.com.
